Uttar Pradesh government grants compensation to Muzaffarnagar riot victims
MUZAFFARNAGAR: Uttar Pradesh government has grnated a compensation of Rs two lakh each to the families of nine children, who had reportedly died in seperate relief camps in the riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, officials said.

Similarly, a compensation of Rs five lakh each have also been provided to five gangrape victims in Phugana village in the district, Sub-Divisional Magistrate J P Gupta said.

The deaths (children's) took place due to cold and insufficient medical facilities in the relief camps, which were set up after the riots.

The step was taken after the Supreme Court directed the state government to provide relief to all gangrape victims and families of children who died in relief camps.
