Uttar Pradesh government decides constitution of climate change authority

The cabinet decided that in order to mitigate and minimize environmental disaffects, an authority headed by the chief minister would be constituted.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government today decided to constitute a climate change authority besides approving state bio-diversity policy and setting up of model schools.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The cabinet decided that in order to mitigate and minimize environmental disaffects, an authority headed by the chief minister would be constituted.

It also approved the proposal to set up model schools under centrally sponsored scheme in 680 development blocks to provide qualitative education to students in rural areas.

The cabinet also approved rehabilitation policy for physically challenged people and a proposal to increase land area and subsidy for dwellings to be constructed under Lohia Rural Housing Scheme.

A proposal to set up state-of-the-art control rooms in Agra and Varanasi was also approved.
