Uttar Pradesh government announces Samajwadi Pension Scheme

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government today announced 'Samajwadi Pension Scheme', aimed at benefiting about 40 lakh families in the state.

"Nearly 40 lakh families will benefit from the scheme and a sum of Rs 500 will be transfered in the bank accounts of head of each family every month," Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan told reporters here.

"The scheme is the biggest ever social security scheme in the country. About 40 lakh families including 12 lakh SC/ST, 10 lakh minority families and 18 lakh OBC families will benefit from the scheme," Ranjan said.

Ranjan said that July 15 will be the last date to apply for the scheme, after which applications would be verified.
