LUCKNOW: Claiming that countries using their own language have made great progress, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today pitched for use of Hindi in the field of science and technology.

Yadav was speaking at a function to mark 'Hindi Diwas' here during which he also presented 'Bharat Bharti Samman' to achievers.

Referring to developed countries, he said that countries which have used their own language have made great progress.

"Hindi should also be used in the field of science and technology so that the coming generations could make natural progress and learn to think and understand in their mother tongue", Yadav said.

" Samajwadi Party has always tried to help in the progress of Hindi and other Indian languages and party president Mulayam Singh Yadav had himself attended kavi sammelans and discussions on the issue", Yadav said adding that the present government is also making efforts in this direction.

He said that the present government is also working in the same direction.

Yadav presented the 'Bharat Bharti Samman' to Hindi author Kashinath Singh and 'Lohia Sahitya Samman' to Mridula Garg among over 111 other litterateurs who were felicitated on the occasion.
