Uttar Pradesh bans gutkha to avoid COVID-19 spread

"Manufacturing, sale and storage of pan masala is being banned in the state till further orders," Food Security Commissioner Ministhy S said in an order issued here. Spitting pan masala can help in spreading Covid-19," the order said.

Those violating the orders will be dealt strictly according to the law, UP govt said in an order.

LUCKNOW: From flagging off home delivery services for vegetables, milk and grocery from day one of the lockdown to being among the first few states to announce relief measures for daily wage earners, Uttar Pradesh is pulling out all the stops to ensure the convenience of the country’s largest mass of population during the nationwide lockdown.

The state has also banned the sale of gutka and pan masala to avoid the spread of Covid-19 through spitting.
