US wants Pakistan to accept Indian aid offer

The US today said it expects that Pakistan would accept India's offer of USD five million as aid for its flood victims.

WASHINGTON: The US today said it expects that Pakistan would accept India's offer of USD five million as aid for its flood victims.

State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said that US believes that politics and diplomatic differences should not come between humanitarian relief work.

Crowley said US would encourage Pakistan to accept Indian aid.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna had conveyed India's offer to his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi during a telephone conversation on Friday.

Krishna described the offer of aid as a "gesture of solidarity with the people of Pakistan in their hour of need".
