US to contribute Rs 40 lakh to PM's Relief Fund

The United States on Thursday said that it would contribute Rs 40 lakh to Prime Minister's National relief Fund for assistance to victims of the recent floods in Bihar.

NEW DELHI: The United States on Thursday said that it would contribute Rs 40 lakh to Prime Minister's National relief Fund for assistance to victims of the recent floods in Bihar.

In a statement, US Ambassador to India David C Mulford offered his condolences to the families of those killed in the disaster.

The United States is ready to provide further support as needed, he said.

At least 55 people have so far lost their lives while over 25 lakh people in 15 districts have been hit by the impact of one of the worst floods in recent memory with the worst hit being Araria, Supaul, Madhepura and Saharsa.
