US takes 'no position' on legal proceedings against Pervez Musharraf
US today distanced itself from the Pervez Musharraf issue and said it had "no position" on the legal proceedings initiated against him.

The US Embassy spokesperson said the "United States takes no position on the return of former President Pervez Musharraf or the legal proceedings against him".
"This is an issue to be resolved solely in accordance with Pakistan's Constitution and laws. The US reaffirms that it is backing democracy in Pakistan, and does not support any particular political party or individual candidate," the spokesperson said in a statement.
Musharraf was arrested this morning, a day after the Islamabad High Court revoked his bail and directed police to detain him.
The 69-year-old former military strongman was sent on "transit remand" for two days by a judicial magistrate and is expected to be produced in an anti-terrorism court tomorrow.
