US Secretary of State John Kerry tonight called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj and the two discussed the overall situation in the region, specially the relief efforts in quake-devastated Nepal.

NEW DELHI: US Secretary of State John Kerry tonight called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj and the two discussed the overall situation in the region, specially the relief efforts in quake-devastated Nepal.

"Secretary of State John Kerry today called External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. They spoke on overall situation in region and specially on relief efforts in Nepal", Spokesman of External Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup tweeted.

India and the United States are going to hold strategic dialogue later this year.

The United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Wendy Sherman, was here last week and held talks with Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Indo-US ties and implementation of decisions taken at the summit between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January. They also reviewed the security scenario in the region.
