US resumes visa facility from today in Pak

In less than a week of stopping its visa facility in Pakistan citing "security reasons", the US had decided to reopen the visa facility in the country from today onwards.

ISLAMABAD: In less than a week of stopping its visa facility in Pakistan citing "security reasons", the US had decided to reopen the visa facility in the country from today onwards.

US State Department Deputy spokesman Robert Wood said that the US had suspended its consular services, such as issuing visas, in Pakistan in response to a worsening security situation after the Marriott suicide blast.

He said that the US would formally reopen its consular services and US Citizen services from Monday after security clearance.

Besides the US, the UK has also suspended its air services to Pakistan and also the visa service in the country in the aftermath of the last Saturday's suicide attack on hotel Marriott, killing nearly 60 people.

London also issued a travel advisory to its citizens directing them to restrict their movements within the country, as they could be the target of the terrorists there.
