On Jan 26, US President will also attend ‘At Home’ program at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in evening on the occasion of Republic Day & have a private dinner with PM.

January 25

US President Barack Obama reaches Delhi in the early hours of January 25.

Obama will be at Rashtrapati Bhawan for Guard of Honour followed by a visit to Rajghat in the morning.

Thereafter, Obama will be in Hyderabad House for the summit meeting with PM Narendra Modi. The two leaders would also give press statements following talks early in the afternoon.

Obama is also expected to meet India-US CEO Forum the same day.

Obama will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath till noon.

Obama and Modi will jointly interact with CEOs from both sides in the evening.

US President will also attend the ‘At Home’ program at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in the evening.

January 27

Obama will address the Town Hall meeting at Siri Fort

He will visit the Taj Mahal the same afternoon before departing for the USA in the evening.

Minister in waiting

Minister of State with Independent charge for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal will be the ‘Minister in Waiting’ for Barack Obama during the visit from Jan 25-27.

He will receive Obama at the airport when the US President arrives in India. He will also be at the airport to see him off when his ‘Air Force One’ departs and accompany him in all his meetings & visits.

This will be Barack Obama’s second visit to India as the President of the United States. Earlier, when Obama visited India in November, 2010 it was Salman Khurshid who served as ‘Minister in Waiting’ for him.

Washington wants forward movement on Nuclear Liability Law that would enable GE and Westinghouse to enter Indian market and make the civil nuclear deal of 2008 operational.
