US govt has not "discouraged" its citizens from going to India
US government has clarified that it has not "ever discouraged" its citizens from travelling to India, Lok Sabha was informed. India had taken up the issue of Warden Message, which was put out on the embassy website.
Replying to a written question, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said the US embassy here issued a Warden Message, which is not a Travel Advisory, reminding all its citizens resident in or travelling to India that there is a high threat from terrorism throughout India and urging them to always practice good security.
India had taken up the issue of Warden Message, which was put out on the embassy website on June two, with the US embassy, Krishna said while replying to the written question.
"The US embassy clarified that the US government has not in the recent memory ever discouraged its citizens from travelling to India. They also stated that the US government tasks its missions the world over to issue Warden Message to its citizens to ensure their safety and security," he said.
