NEW DELHI: The United States today announced an additional financial aid of USD 75,000 for flood-affected people of Uttarakhand.

"The US, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing an additional USD 75,000 to a non-governmental organisation to respond to the needs of the people affected by the disaster in the state of Uttarakhand," US Ambassador to India Nancy J Powell announced.

Catholic Relief Services would use these funds to provide cash transfers and non-food relief supplies to the most severely affected families living in shelters and villages, working in close collaboration with state and district authorities, she said.

On June 23, Powell had released USD 150,000 to Plan India and Save the Children India to provide emergency relief, including temporary shelter and other humanitarian assistance, to meet the immediate needs of families residing in remote areas of the state.
