US Ambassador meets Pranab, Narayanan

NEW DELHI: The US Ambassador to India David C Mulford met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan today amid reports from Pakistan that Islamabad has accepted that Mumbai terror accused Amir Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani national.

Mulford met Mukherjee in the afternoon and is understood to have discussed the evidence provided by India of Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai terror attack. Other than Pakistan and the US, India has shared this evidence with China, the UK and Israel.

Later in the evening, Mulford met Narayanan in the Prime Minister's Office in South Block.

Sources said reports of Pakistan's Advisor to Prime Minister on security issues, Mahmud Ali Durrani, accepting Kasab, the lone terrorist captured from Mumbai attack, being a Pakistani figured in the meeting.

Mulford had told reporters yesterday that the Mumbai attacks were "managed" from Pakistan and said a FBI team will be going to that country to carry on the probe. He had also played down the fears of an Indo-Pak war, saying there was no such possibility. PTI
