UPSC to look into language controversy

The UPSC has told the Bombay HC that it would set up a review committee to look into a rule that dictates that a candidate who has answered the examination in English has to give the interview in the same language.

MUMBAI: The UPSC has told the Bombay HC that it would set up a review committee to look into a rule that dictates that a candidate who has answered the examination in English has to give the interview in the same language.

The HC was hearing a petition filed by an IAS aspirant who had alleged bias over interviews in English. "The commission is in the process of constituting a committee of experts to examine the issue," said advocate Rui Rodrigues who, along with Rajinder Kumar, represented the UPSC.
