Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said the nation has witnessed lathi-charges, tear gas shells, and the "crushing" of a peaceful democratic protest by the government, and under the painful circumstances, he has decided not to celebrate his birthday. This is not how a 'Mother of Democracy' treats its young children, the Congress president said.
