The Opposition parties on Wednesday rocked the Lok Sabha and forced it to adjourn for the day without any substantive work after the Chair and the government rejected their demand for suspending question hour and discuss their demand for the dismissal of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra in the wake of the SIT terming the Lakhimpur incident as a pre-meditated conspiracy.

The House adjourning for the day amid the protests also meant that the scheduled discussion on the price rise could not take off. But sources said debate on inflation may be held on Thursday. The Opposition members entered the Well of the House and indulge in sloganeering and waved placards.

The parliamentary affairs minister, who tried to corner them by pointing out that many of the protesters were violating Covid norms, only evoked louder sloganeering, prompting the Speaker to call off the proceedings till 2 pm.
