MUMBAI: Shiv Sena-BJP in Maharashtra on Wednesday criticised the UPA government for hiking the diseal and petrol prices saying that the Congress led regime was making a mockery of the "aam admi".

In a statement issued here, state BJP president Nitin Gadkari said the Congress and UPA are making fool of the common man.

"This price hike will bring common man on the door step of suicide. The BJP will launch a state wide agitation to protest against the hike,"he said.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said the price hike would put more burden on the common man already facing the inflation heat.

"Lack of planning and inefficient performance of the government has resulted in the price hike,"she added.

Lambasting Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, Gorhe said the minister defended the hike by saying that LPG prices were hiked by only Rs 50 when it should have been Rs 343 while the petrol rate was up by Rs five instead of Rs 21, which showed his arrogance.
