UPA-Left meeting to discuss quota issue
A meeting of the leaders of ruling UPA allies and Left parties have been convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this evening to discuss ways and means to clear the logjam in the OBC quota issue in the wake of a recent Supreme Court order.

NEW DELHI: A meeting of the leaders of ruling UPA allies and Left parties have been convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this evening to discuss ways and means to clear the logjam in the OBC quota issue in the wake of a recent Supreme Court order.
The crucial meeting, to be held at the 7-Race Course Road residence of the Prime Minister, will be attended by top leaders of UPA parties and the Left, sources said.
The meeting is expected to discuss the apex court stay on the implementation of 27 per cent quota for OBCs in elite educational insitutions, they said.
The Prime Minister yesterday spoke of the need for a broad-based national consensus to decide on the nature of reservation in view of the apex order.
Earlier, Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh had said that the government would take all "constitutional and legal measures" to vacate the stay.
