UPA leaders appear confident on trust vote

With few hours left for tomorrow's crucial Parliament session, UPA leaders on Sunday appeared confident of winning the trust vote on July 22.

NEW DELHI: With few hours left for tomorrow's crucial Parliament session, UPA leaders on Sunday appeared confident of winning the trust vote on July 22.

All the UPA constituents, top Congress leaders, some independents and a rebel BJP MP attended the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Coming out of the dinner, political secretary to Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel said "the mood in the dinner was extremely upbeat and we are 1000 per cent confident of winning the trust vote on July 22," Patel said.

Railways Minister Lalu Prasad also was confident about UPA winning the trust vote and said "government will get 292 votes," but however refused to reveal while asked from where the numbers will come.

Congress spokesperson Veerappa Moily said "National Conference leaders will be supporting the government during trust vote."

Moily also said all the UPA constituents were very cheerful and confident of winning the trust vote.

"I am very much confident that UPA will win the trust vote on 22nd," he said adding that "many invisible" voters will extend their support to the government.

Criticising the CPI-M leader Prakash Karat for his comments "the deal will be doomed and the government will be doomed on July 22", Moily said Karat has started a kind of "misadventure".

Commenting on the UNPA and Mayawati, Moily alleged it (UNPA) is a non-entity. "Mayawati has been trapped. She has become unstable after joining the UNPA."

Moily also attacked Chandra Babu Naidu and said he was not a "trust-worthy" leader.
