UPA govt honestly implemented Sachar panel recommendations: K Rahman Khan

LUCKNOW: Union Minority Affairs Minister K Rahman Khan today said the UPA government has honestly implemented the recommendations of Sachar committee and was going to constitute an equal opportunities commission soon.

"We have done full honesty in implementing recommendations of Sachar committee. We will soon constitute equal opportunities commission", Khan said while taking to reporters here.

"It's being touted that we have not implemented recommendations of Sachar committee. But the truth is that out of 72, we identified 69 and implemented 66 recommendations", Khan claimed.

He said that except diversity index, equal opportunities commission and national data bank, UPA government had implemented all the recommendations identified by the ministry.

The Union minister said in the coming monsoon session, the government would bring Waqf amendment bills and a separate Bill to check illegal encroachments on Waqf properties.

Alleging that Minorities welfare corporation was not working in Uttar Pradesh for past six years, Khan said that due to this the state could not get money from Centre in various heads.

He said that under Prime Minister's 15 point programme, the state was given 15 polytechnics but their work was still incomplete and added that UP was not giving utilisation certificate of money spent due to which hurdles are caused in implementation of schemes.

Khan said that he would talk to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav tomorrow and review progress of the minority department.
