KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has attacked the Congress-led UPA government, alleging that it was vindictive towards her government since it came to power in 2011.

Banerjee’s attack comes even as there are speculation of a renewed bonhomie between her party and BJP, the chief rival of her erstwhile ally, Congress.

Addressing a campaign rally in Howrah's Bally on Monday, Banerjee alleged that the Centre has tried to place roadblocks so that her government would not function properly.

"The new government had removed the 34-year old Marxist government from power. Instead of helping us, the Congress-led UPA-II government played a vindictive role and tried to scuttle our legitimate financial dues to embarrass us."
