CPI today lambasted the UPA government at the Centre for 'inadequate' allocation of funds to Puducherry.

PUDUCHERRY: CPI today lambasted the UPA government at the Centre for 'inadequate' allocation of funds to Puducherry, resulting in government facing difficulty to implement various schemes.

The party also charged the government with adopting improper financial practices and inept management, leading to the current critical financial problem`.

Addressing reporters here, CPI Puducherry state committee secretary R Viswanathan said there had been a decline in Central grant, though Puducherry is entitled to get special attention from the centre as it is a Union Territory.

The current fiscal crisis had been reflected in want of essential commodities for government boy's hostels, lack of stock of rice and delay in payment of pension to the aged.

Viswanathan said CPI had written to the Centre and the government here on the need to set up a state-level Service Commission for local recruitment to the posts of Group A and B in government service.

(Presently the Puducherry Administration relies on UPSC for candidates for posting in these posts here).
