UPA government has nothing to celebrate: CPI

CPI today attacked Congress for "failure" to meet the aspirations of the people, saying the government had somehow managed to survive.

NEW DELHI: Ahead of UPA-II's fourth anniversary, CPI today attacked Congress for "failure" to meet the aspirations of the people, saying the government had somehow managed to survive and there was "nothing to celebrate".

"The government has failed to manage the economy, as inflation has been rising uncontrollably, unemployment has been gallopping, agriculture and manufacturing growth rates have fallen and the overall GDP has declined," party National Secretary D Raja said here.

"Such massive cases of corruption have never been witnessed in the post-Independence era, involving those in power as well as senior bureaucrats. Even the Prime Minister stands accused in all this," he said.

All this showed the "loss of credibility of the UPA-II government and, therefore, Congress has nothing to celebrate", Raja said.
