UPA government encroaching states' turf: BJP

The BJP accused the Manmohan Singh government of poaching upon states' domain and finances, discrimination against non-UPA ruled states and crushing the spirit of "federal dharma".

LUCKNOW: The BJP on Saturday accused the Manmohan Singh government of poaching upon states’ domain and finances, discrimination against non-UPA ruled states and crushing the spirit of “federal dharma”.

The party, which will form a forum to fight such “attacks and discrimination”, decided to reach out to other non-UPA political parties to garner support.

“We shall stand up in in solidarity with any non-Congress state attacked or discriminated against,” a resolution moved by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi at the party’s national executive meeting said. “A systematic and planned shift from states to the centre is continuing as a legacy from Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s time,” the resolution said.
