LUCKNOW: Winding up his two-day visit to review poll preparedness in the state, the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy said that he had received complaints about top bureaucrats behaving partially towards the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Election Commission would take appropriate action when the time comes.
“We have received complaints from political parties about the conduct of some senior officers. We are examining these complaints and if needed, we will take suitable action against them” he said.
ET had reported on February 23 about the Election Commission taking a serious view of the Chief Secretary and DGP, among other senior officers, behaving partially and participating in Samajwadi Party functions, and the action likely to be initiated against them.
The Chief Secretary N C Bajpei, at a function organised by the ruling Samajwadi Party to celebrate its three years in power, had praised the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav from the podium, and said “I wish that Mulayam Singh Yadav continues to be the Chief Minister for many years” . The DGP Bua Singh and other senior bureaucrats were also seen at the function which was held in the party office.
