The special force will be looking after the security of high courts as well as district courts , metro railway stations, airports, religious sites, administrative buildings, industrial units, banks and other financial institutions as well as any other such establishment deemed important by the state.
The constitution of the force, which has been planned on the lines of similar forces existing in states of Maharashtra and Odisha, will ease pressure on the existing police and PAC as well as create additional employment within the state, the government announced on Thursday.
The Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) office premises will be used in the initial phase to carry out official work regarding the newly constituted force. Since the budget of the current financial year does not provide for its constitution, provisions will be made in the supplementary budget and later included in the 2021-2022 annual budget.
