Major rivers continued to flow above the danger mark in Uttar Pradesh today with moderate to rather heavy rainfall and thundershowers lashing few places.

LUCKNOW: Major rivers continued to flow above the danger mark in Uttar Pradesh today with moderate to rather heavy rainfall and thundershowers lashing few places while heavy downpours were witnessed at isolated areas in the western districts.

Central Water Commission sources said that river Ganga continued to flow above the danger level at Ballia and Gazipur and was maintaing a rising trend all through its course from Fatehgarh to Ballia.

Yamuna was flowing above the danger mark at Auraiya, Kalpi, Hamirpur and Chilla Ghat (Banda) and Betwa river's level was also above the red mark at Sahijana in Hamirpur.

Sharda at Palia Kalan and Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge and Turtipar were flowing above the danger level while Ram Ganga at Moradabad and Dabri (Shahjahapur) and Rapti at Balrampur, Bansi, Regoli and Gorakhpur were flowing close to the red mark.

Budhi Rapti river was also flowing near the danger level at Kakarhi (Siddharnagar), the sources said.

According to Met office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are: Muzaffarnagar-10; Deoband-9, Amroha, Sahaswan, Nakur-7 each, Chhatnag-6 , Karwi-5; Saharanpur, Bidhuna-3 each.

Rain and thundershowers would occur at many places over west UP and few areas in the eastern districts in the next 48 hours.
