UP lifts ban on student union elections

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday lifted the ban of elections to the student unions in universities and colleges in the state.


LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday lifted the ban of elections to the student unions in universities and colleges in the state.

The announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Mayawati in the Vidhan Sabha here.

Mayawati said that the student union elections would be held in accordance with the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee report.
