UP land case: Court rejects review petition against Amitabh Bachchan

A local court has rejected the revision petition filed against film star Amitabh Bachchan accusing him of fraudulently acquiring land.

BARABANKI: A local court has rejected the revision petition filed against film star Amitabh Bachchan accusing him of fraudulently acquiring land.

Additional District Judge S S Masood yesterday rejected the review petition filed by Babulal of Sahavpur village alleging that Bachchan had fraudulently got a piece of land in Daulatpur village in his name.

According to assistant government counsel, Mohd Zafar Kazmi, the revision petition was filed after the chief judicial magistrate court had rejected a petition in this connection on January 9 this year finding it baseless.

After hearing both the sides, the additional district judge upheld the decision of the chief judicial magistrate court and rejected the revision petition, Kazmi said.

A case in this connection is also going on in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court where the court has already stayed any action against Bachchan after he gave up his claim on the land.
