UP Governor BL Joshi's report is political: Samajwadi Party

LUCKNOW: A report by UP Governor BL Joshi that is said to pin the blame on the state government for its failure to control the communal clashes has attracted criticism from the SP, casting a cloud over relations between him and the chief minister and between the party and the Congress.

The centre had sought a report from the governor, who is reported to have squarely blamed the Akhilesh Yadav government for its inability to control the situation.

Reports said Joshi, a veteran IPS officer who worked in the home ministry during the Indira Gandhi years and is considered close to the Congress, is said to have pointed out that administrative steps were inadequate and that the government was slow to act, which led to the situation deteriorating in Muzaffarnagar.

SP called it as a “political report”.
