LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced a slew of measures, including internship for students and hiring of girls in police, aimed at increasing employment in the state.

Addressing a job fair Gorakhpur University, Adityanath said students of class 10, 12 and those pursuing graduation will be linked to technical institutes for six months to a year. They will be given an honorarium of Rs 2,500 per month. Of this, Rs 1,500 will be given by the centre and the rest by the state.

“After the completion of the internship, the government will also arrange for the placement of such youth for which an human resources cell will be created," the UP CM said.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the centre provides for skill development and has employed more than 16 lakh youth till now. It remained unclear whether the UP government's new scheme, with participation from the centre, will be linked to the PMKVY or not. BJP spokespersons said more details will emerge in due course of time.
