LUCKNOW: After an 'eyeball to eyeball' confrontation with Governor Ram Naik, the Akhilesh government is all set to drop the name of its favourite Justice (retd) Ravindra Singh and convene a selection committee meeting on September 27 to select a new ombudsman.

The government was earlier opposed to selection of Lok Ayukta, through selection committee. The hostilities between the Chief Minister and Governor had even sucked in the Chief Justice of Allahabad High court into the messy affair, but highly placed sources informed that the selection committee meeting comprising of the CM, Leader of Opposition and state's Chief Justice is likely to be convened on 27 September.

As the present incumbent Justice NK Mehrotra's term expired on March 2014, the Supreme Court had asked the government to expedite the process.
