Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has set up a high level committee chaired by the state's finance minister for transfer of money to daily wage labourers that are sure to suffer with the halt of construction and other activity as the state tightens rules to prevent it from entering stage 3 of the Covid 19 spread.

At a cabinet meeting that was held on Tuesday, CM Yogi Adityanath has constituted a committee including the finance, labour as well as agriculture minister which will be submitting a report within three days regarding the estimates of the amount.

"To ensure the livelihood of daily wage earners the government is looking at transferring money using the real time gross settlement (RTGS) system directly into their accounts," government spokesperson and state power minister Shrikant Sharma told mediapersons.


Apart from this, the government has extended the closure of schools and educational institutions from March 22 to April 2 while all kinds of examinations including competitive examinations have also been ordered to be put on hold till April 2. CM Yogi Adityanath in the meeting has also called for free treatment of all those afflicted by the Corona Virus that has affected 124 people in the country so far, killing 3.

Meanwhile, tourist destinations across the state will remain shut till March 31 for tourists. However, the sites will keep undergoing cleanliness and regular sanitation.

The government will also be engaging with religious leaders, clerics etc to take their help in ensuring people do not visit religious places while the district administration of each of the 75 districts have been asked to work tirelessly to spread awareness.

People working in private as well as government enterprises have been relieved of marking their biometric attendance and can work from home for some time during which their salaries will not deducted.

Uttar Pradesh has reported 13 cases of corona virus so far.
