UP government approves extension of Dial-100 service to entire state
LUCKNOW: Often under fire for poor law and order conditions in the state, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is all set to launch the ambitious Dail 100 scheme in Uttar Pradesh on December 19.

The Police Emergency Response Management Scheme ( PERMS) has roped in Ernst and Young as a consultant and a big call centre has been set up to take distress calls from the public.

Once a call is made, cops with GPS-enabled vehicles will reach the spot from where the call has been made within 10 minutes, providing quick response to the person in distress. The office of Dial 100 has come up on an 8 acre plot which will have a 300 seater call centre.

An official involved with the implementation of the project said that once a police team reaches the person in distress within 10 minutes, the efficiency of police will increase and also provide some comfort to the victim. Quick response would also enable faster tracing of the accused and instill a sense of fear among anti socials. The public can reach out Dial 100 either by making a call or SMS and other communication modes.

“This is an ambitious scheme which will help the police reach a person in any corner of the state, village or town.

within 10 minutes. Not only will it provide instant relief to the victim but also bring down crime levels once the message goes down that the police will not dilly dally and be there in 10 minutes” said the officer. Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had announced the project shortly after coming to power.
