UP developments will not affect tie-up with BJP: Nitish
Ruling out a truck with RJD in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections despite a common opposition to Samajwadi Party rule in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said JD(U)'s alliance with Apna Dal will not strain its alliance with BJP i...
"Lalu and Ram Vilas Paswan have simply jumped on the bandwagon of former prime minister V P Singh. They do not seem to be interested in making a difference in the political situation of UP. I do not foresee any alliance between our party and RJD or LJP," he told the media here last night.
Asked whether JD(U)'s alliance with Apna Dal will bring his party into a direct confrontation with BJP, with which he is running a coalition government in Bihar, Kumar said "BJP has been a major force in UP. It has been a ruling party here and it is free to field as many candidates as it wants".
He, however, said the JD(U)-Apna Dal alliance in UP would not put a strain on the ruling coalition in Bihar.
"The BJP's tie-ups with all coalition members in the NDA has been state-specific. The alliance in one state does not have a bearing upon the coalition in another," kumar, who was here to address a rally organised by the Apna Dal-JD(U) combine, added.
