UP cops rule out HuJI ultra's Varanasi blast links

The Varanasi Police refused to buy Jammu and Kashmir Police' contention that the arrested HuJi militant was involved in the blasts here and said he was not a suspect during their investigations.

VARANASI: The Varanasi Police today refused to buy Jammu and Kashmir Police' contention that the arrested HuJi militant was involved in the blasts here and said he was not a suspect during their investigations.

SSP Vijay Prakash told PTI that self-styled HuJI commander Fazial Sohail Ahmed arrested in Jammu on Sunday did not have any link with the blasts here.

"We have no information about him and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have not even contacted the local police for sharing any such information."

The Jammu police had claimed that Ahmed, arrested on Sunday was an accused in Faizabad and Varanasi blasts, besides being involved in the killing of five Border Road Organisation officials, including commandant Lt Col Ajay Verma in Kishtwar in June.

The Jammu Police had claimed that Ahmed was arrested in a raid carried out on Intelligence Bureau (IB) report.
