MATHURA: Senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Pramod Tiwari today alleged that the NDA government at the Centre was "tactfully" diverting the attention of the people from development by raking up issues like religious conversion and Love Jihad.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed in every field as none of his promises could be fulfilled," the former UP minister and Member of Parliament said here.

He alleged that in order to divert the attention of the people from development, issues like conversion, Love Jihad have "tactfully been introduced".

He also alleged that the controversial issues were being raked up at the behest of the Prime Minister.

"Conversion issue has been raised at the behest of Prime Minister Modi. Had Modi been sincere and had he taken a tough stand on such issues, no one from his party could have dared to make such statements," the Congress leader told reporters.

Tiwari was here to meet CLP leader Pradeep Mathur, whose mother passed away recently.
