UP CM Yogi Adityanath says ‘no’ to Mercedes SUV in fleet
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath rejected the UP estate department's proposal to add another Mercedes car to his fleet saying that he was okay with the existing vehicle. The proposal by the department was made in June as the CM's fleet at present has only one SUV.

The department had made the proposal anticipating an exigency, sources said, adding that even Akhilesh Yadav as CM had two SUVs in his fleet.

According to sources, the second SUV was pulled out from the CM's fleet during the government's transition period and deployed in the fleet of a powerful politician, who was also a former Union minister.

As no official could ask for the vehicle to be returned, the estate department decided to make a new proposal to purchase an SUV.

The CM, however, rejected the proposal saying he was okay with one SUV which was used by Akhilesh Yadav.

Generally, the CM has two cars of the same model in the fleet for an exigency. Along with a high-end SUV, there are slightly lower version SUVs in the fleet, a source said.
