UP begins distributing school bags with pictures of former CM Akhilesh Yadav

BAREILLY: The UP basic education department has directed officials of 23 districts of the state to begin the process of distributing school bags with pictures of former CM Akhilesh Yadav and slogans of Samajwadi Party to students. TOI had earlier reported that lakhs of school bags with pictures of the former CM were lying around in musty storerooms across the state after the change in regime.

Deputy director education (primary), Abdul Mubin, recently wrote to basic shiksha adhikaris (BSAs) of 23 districts to “follow the previous orders and take necessary action“ regarding free school bags. The letter also directed BSAs to submit financial and physical reports in this connection.

Bareilly BSA Chandana Ram Iqbal Yadav said, “We had received nearly 35,000 school bags with pictures of Akhilesh Yadav . However, as the model code of conduct was imposed in the state in January , we could not distribute them. With the change in regime, I had written to the government to seek their directions on what to do.“

The BSA added, “Following my letter, deputy director education (primary) asked us to follow the previous government order in this connection.“
