UP Assembly elections: Salman Khurshid's wife issued notice for violation of election code

FARUKKHABAD: Congress candidate Louis Khurshid, wife of Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, has been slapped with a notice for violation of model code of conduct after she allegedly used red beacon on vehicles during campaign for UP Assembly elections.

"A show cause notice has been issued to Congress candidate Louis Khurshid asking her to submit her explanation and directive has been issued to remove beacon lights," district magistrate Sachidanand Shukla said.

Khurshid allegedly used two vehicles fitted with red beacon lights during her election campaign yesterday.

The DM and district electorate officer said that serious note has been taken of alleged violation of code of conduct.

BJP district president Bhudeo Singh Rajput flayed the Congress candidate for violating the model code of conduct.

"When wife of the Union Law Minister will herself openly violate the model code of conduct, it would be criminal on the part of the administration not to take action against her," he said.
