UP Assembly adjourns for day to pay respect to APJ Abdul Kalam

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Assembly and Legislative Council were adjourned for the day today after paying rich tributes to late former President A P J Abdul Kalam.

As soon as the Assembly met, Leader of the House Akhilesh Yadav read out his condolence message and leaders of BSP, BJP, Congress and RLD also lauded works done by Kalam for the country.

As a mark of respect to the "people's President", members of the Assembly observed silence for two minutes before the proceedings were adjourned for the day.

Later, Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey said that he would apprise the feelings of the House to the family members of Kalam.

Legislative Council was also adjourned after paying tributes to Kalam.

Meanwhile, both the Houses will now meet on August 17.

Abdul Kalam passed away on July 27 in Shillong after suffering a massive heart attack.
