LUCKNOW: Congress today forced adjournment of the Question Hour in the Uttar Pradesh assembly over the plight of water-scarce Bundelkhand region.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Congress members trooped into the Well with placards demanding waiver of farmers' loan and declaring the region as drought-hit.

BSP members also joined Congress MLAs in the Well for some time but later returned to their seats.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan was heard telling those in the Well that their voice was feeble and charged them with trying to take credit through this agitation for the provisions that the govenment will be making in the budget for 2016-17.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey tried to pursuade them to raise the issue under relevant rules later but to no avail following which the House was adjourned in phases till 12:15 hours.

When the House reassembled, the Speaker granted one-hour debate on the issue.
