New Delhi: On the occasion of Sardar Patel's 150th birth anniversary, Union home minister Amit Shah said the government has decided to organise a unity parade every year as a tribute to India's first deputy prime minister and home minister. Shah was speaking in New Delhi on Friday after flagging off the 'Run for Unity' on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on October 31 every year to honour his contributions in unifying India. In a message posted on 'X', Shah paid homage to the 'Iron Man' Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, calling him a symbol of "national unity, integrity, and the empowerment of farmers." On Friday, in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, the police forces of all states and the Central Armed Police Forces paid tribute to Sardar Patel through a grand parade at Kevadia in Gujarat, he said.

Young people who take the pledge to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation will be the builders of India's future, Shah said.
