Adityanath urged people to stay united to accomplish the aim of a developed India. "There can be nothing bigger than the nation and the nation will be strong, when we are united and good natured," according to him.
"Aap dekh rahe hain Bangladesh mein kya ho raha. Wo galatiyan yahan nahi honi chahiye. Batenge toh katenge. Ek rahenge to nek rahenge, surakshit rahenge (You can see what's going on in Bangladesh, and you shouldn't make the same mistakes here. We will be alright if we stay together. If we are divided, we will be destroyed)," the CM said.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav described it as a disgraceful statement made by someone in a position of responsibility.
"Responsible people's role is to protect others from fear, not to spread it. If these are someone's personal views, they are incorrect. If they are his party's views, they are even more wrong. Is the twin engine hiding somewhere in this fear-filled climate created by BJP rule? Disgraceful statement," Yadav wrote on X.
Congress called it an attempt to divide society. "Despite being in a constitutional post, the UP CM talks day and night about dividing the country into 80:20. He has once again made a dangerous attempt to divide the society on the pretext of Bangladesh," Congress leader Kunwar Danish Ali told ET.
