Police fired tear gas shells to bring teh situation under control and disperse the mob. The TMC activists raised ‘go back’ slogans. A week before, state minister Udayan Guha gave a call to gherao the MoS' house.

Pramanik said, “ We will take up this matter with the central government. The TMC workers attacked his vehicle and bullet marks could be seen. Trinamool is hand-in glove with the police."

Meanwhile, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar faced obstacles as he was greeted by “go back” slogans by Trinamool workers at Sagardighi in Murshidabad district. Majumdar went to campaign for the upcoming Assembly bypoll.

“Trinamool wants to intimidate the Opposition by attacks. In Bengal, MPs, MLAs and Union ministers have no security. We condemn this culture of violence,” Majumdar said.
