NEW DELHI: Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma today disapproved of the paint attack on BJP's former strategist Sudheendra Kulkarni saying people have right to protest only within democratic framework of the Constitution.

"I think people have got right to represent their views and version in a democratic framework of the constitution only... They should do it in the democratic framework of the constitution," Sharma told reporters here.

He was replying to a question on Shiv Sena activists blackening the face of Kulkarni over his refusal to cancel the book launch function of former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri at Mumbai today.

Sharma's statement comes in the light of the attack being roundly condemned by political parties with BJP stalwart L K Advani saying it reflected "growing intolerance" in the country that is cause for concern and Congress dubbing Shiv Sena as " Desi Taliban.
