Jitendra Singh condoled the death of two BSF jawans in a militant attack on their convoy on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur.

JAMMU: Union minister Jitendra Singh today condoled the death of two BSF jawans in a militant attack on their convoy on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur, and assured of immediate compensation to their kin.

"I condole the death of two BSF jawans who achieved martyrdom and assure that compensation will be given immediately to the kin of the martyr BSF jawans and to the 10 BSF jawans who were injured," Singh, the Union Minister of State in the PMO, said.

He expressed grief and concern over the terror attack in Udhampur. He also assured all help to the security forces, district administration and local people from the central government.

Soon after the attack, Singh, who is camping in Manipur on the Indo-Myanmar border to review and coordinate the relief operations there, contacted the Udhampur Deputy Commissioner and enquired about support and assistance required from the central government.

Singh informed the local administration about his sincere commitment for all the assistance required and intimated that he had spoken to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on overall security scenario after the terrorist attack and the need for strengthening the security grid.

He asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that all steps are taken for safety and security of Amarnath pilgrims.
