KOLKATA: Centre on Saturday said that the private sector and trans-national corporations should make efforts to make reservations for SCs and STs by giving fair access.
Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar told the annual general meeting of Merchants' Chamber of Commerce on Saturday that reservations for SCs and STs in the private sector were justified.
She said that empowerment of discriminated groups was required for real growth of the society.
The private sector could play a pioneering role by providing reservations to them, she said.
