KOCHI: Criticising the left parties, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi on Monday alleged that the state had gone down in the higher education sector due to the lack of foresight of left parties about the education sector in Kerala.
Ravi was speaking after inaugurating the Alexander Parambithara Memorial meeting and IT Symposium organised by Parambithara Foundation, here.
The minister said the people, who had opposed the Pre-degree Board introduced by the UDF government in 1982, had implemented it under the 'name plus two,' when they came to power.
He said the A K Antony government in the state had brought about a revolutionary change in the higher education sector by allowing self-financing medical and engineering colleges.
"The same people who had opposed the Smart City IT project brought by the Oommen chandy government, has now brought back the same," he said.
